SABORA TENTED CAMP
Sabora Tented Camp is situated in an untouched wilderness area of Grumeti Reserves, in northern Tanzania. Steeped in character, this camp surprises guests with an opulence that is delightfully incongruous with the rugged terrain of the savannahs
Singita Sabora Tented Camp has 9 en-suite tents lavishly furnished with a treasure trove of antiques and artefacts, original campaign furniture, Zanzibari chests, Persian rugs, and masses of crystal, silverware and brass.
Maasai blankets and traditional beadwork add an authentic local touch. The tents lead directly onto the plains where day beds are scattered to provide spots for afternoon naps and incredible game-viewing.
Sabora Tented Camp set in the untouched wilderness is a spectacular destination for more mature families. The rugged and exhilarating setting with wildlife at the camp’s doorstep will introduce children to a once in a lifetime safari experience creating long-lasting memories.
Due to the remote and exposed location of the camp we recommend the camp for children over the age of ten. Activities are tailored specifically to suit each family and babysitting services are available. In the interest of safety, participation of children in any game activities is at the discretion of their guide.
Daily game drives with professional guides provide the perfect opportunity to get up close to Africa’s incredible animals, while evening drives reveal the elusive magic of nocturnal Africa.
During your stay at Singita Sabora Tented Camp, you are likely to spot a great variety of wildlife, including cheetah, bearded wildebeest, bat eared fox, Maasai giraffe, lion, elephant, buffalo and leopard – and plenty of zebra walking through the camp.
There is no real beginning or end to the wildebeest’s constant search for food and water. The only beginning is when calves are born – almost 400,000 wildebeest calves are born during a 6-week period usually between late January and mid-March. The migration path varies from year to year depending on weather and other environmental factors.
It’s difficult to predict exactly where the migrating wildebeest will be in a given month because movements depend so much on weather patterns. Generally over the year the animals move from the wet southern and eastern plains of the Serengeti from November to March through the western and central region to the dryer north of the Serengeti National Park, both north and south of the Mara River, from the end of May through October.
