Arrival and transfer to your accommodation. We’ll travel into the heart of Johannesburg where a true South African lunch awaits you and then onto an afternoon of cultural & historical insight into the origins of South Africa.
Your first evening includes a gourmet experience at a chefs table, where the preparation of your meal will be perfecting matched with great South African wines.

DAY 2: Cradle of Mankind and Soweto
The early existance of Man kind added with the history of South Africa and a visit to Soweto. Not many streets have been home to a Nobel Laureate -- and even fewer have been home to two. Yet, Vilakazi Street in the heart of bustling Soweto has been exactly that, housing both South African leaders Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela. A time to enjoy the locals gourmet delights with a visit to a "Shabeen" (local tavern ) enjoying the sounds of Kwaito music. Kwaito is a music genre that emerged in
Johannesburg,
South Africa, during the 1990s. It is a variant of house music featuring the use of African sounds.
Day 3: Luxury Private Game Lodge
Breakfast followed by a flight to the Greater Kruger Area. Upon your arrival you will be met and taken to your luxury camp in, or close to, The Kruger National Park. Lunch in the African Bush is followed by a quick refresher, a high tea and then onto an evening game drive. Your safari is highlighted by a sunset stop as dusk settles in, bringing with it the tranquillity of the bush and its inhabitants. Local beverages will be served to enjoy this special moment and then back to the lodge where you will enjoy a typical South African braai (barbecue) under the open skies. On a clear evening the stars and constellations will be fully visible – as the bush allows for clean air and visible skies. Also keep and eye out for shooting stars and satellites travelling overhead.

DAY 4: Luxury Private Game Lodge
Out on an early morning game drive as dusk breaks, you will quietly witness the African bush as it awakens. After breakfast out in the fresh morning air, the rest of your day can be enjoyed by relaxing around the pool, or out on a bush-walk, a tracking experience, a visit to a local cultural village or – if close-by enough – one of the world-renowned stone and iron-age cultural sites of the Kruger area. Relaxing in your air-conditioned tent or room will, for some, be the ultimate relaxation in an equally relaxing environment. Your evening starts with another sunset game drive followed by a sit-down dinner. Dinner may be under the stars around a barbeque, under a traditionally styled boma or in a fine-dining restaurant, complimented by a beautiful selection of wines and what is bound to be a fair amount of talk around sights and experiences from the last two day’s gaming activities.

Day 5: Kruger to Cape Town
This is a long exciting day, filled with just about the best that South Africa has to offer – the African Bush in the morning and then off to the world-renowned coastal setting of Cape Town. After your game drive and breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight. In Cape Town, one is undoubtedly spoilt for choice no matter what your interest. However, in keeping with the theme of your tour, Capetonians boast that their city offers the finest of all gourmet experiences. This, however proves to be especially true when it comes to the variety of traditional dishes. Enjoy an evening indulging in the foods of the Cape, perfectly paired with wines from the greater region.

A relaxing day but with so much to see! Cape Town’s highlights include a visit to the top of Table Mountain, a ferry cruise to the world renowned heritage site of Robben Island and a relaxed walk through the Kirstenbosch Gardens. Alternatively, they day sees a drive out to the Cape Peninsula. On this route you may enjoy a cruise to Seal Island, a lunch-stop in Kalk Bay or Simonstown followed by a visit to see the most adorable Jackass Penquins at Boulders Beach. Finally, a funicular ride takes you to Cape Point, and if luck has it, you may enjoy sightings of Southern Right Whales, Humpback Whales and Bryde's Whales frolicking below. The most southern point of Africa is Cape Agulhus, approximately 250kms to the east of the Cape Point Nature Reserve and it is here where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. An evening back in the city, hosted by a chef and Somillier - a great way to end a beautiful day.

A day for adding something totally unique and different to your cooking skills by preparing and eating traditional meals like Bobotie, Braaibroodjies, Bredie, vetkoek and Melktert. . . . to mention just a few. This is a special opportunity, to be enjoyed in the company of the very special Cape Malay, the most local of Cape Town people. Enjoy a great time to meet and chat to these locals who are only too delighted to share their most unique culinary tastes, language, use of colour and the art of story-telling, music, song and dance of just about any of the multiple races that has afforded South Africa the title of “The Rainbow Nation”! With stomachs full of great food and wine, the rst of your day is at leisure, and if you need even more excitement, our Safari Odyssey consultants will be more than happy to make additional suggestions – perhaps a side-car ride along Chapmans Peak, a canopy tour or a sunset cruise at the V & A Waterfront. But - you still have another evening to enjoy another specially selected Chef’s dinner at a hand-picked Cape Town Restaurant.

Day 8: Franschoek, Paarl and Stellenbosch (Winelands)
After taking your liver tonic it’s a day out amongst the beautiful wine farms, cheese farms, olive groves and Cape Winelands. The areas of Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschoek host world-renowned working wine farms and estates, and if that is not enough, short en-route stops including distillery tours of award-winning Brandies, Whiskey and Gin to finally numb all your senses. Your lunch stop will include a wine-estate restaurant or a specially selected village restaurant.

Recovery day, with a visit to the local food markets and of course the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront for last minute shopping before your afternoon/evening flight to your next destination.
